L' Hausdorff Center for Mathematics ( Hausdorff Center for Mathematics , HCM ) è un centro di ricerca matematica a Bonn , formato dai quattro istituti matematici dell'università Rhenish Friedrich Wilhelm Bonn (Mathematical Institute, Institute of Applied Mathematics, Institute numerical simulation, Discrete Mathematics Research Institute), Max-Planck Institute of Mathematics (MPIM) e Institute of Social and Economic Sciences.
Storia
Il Centro Hausdorff è stato istituito nel 2006 come uno dei diciassette Gruppi di eccellenza nazionali che facevano parte dell'iniziativa di eccellenza del governo tedesco . È stato ufficialmente inaugurato da una conferenza il 19 e 20 gennaio 2007. Nel 2012 è stato concesso un secondo periodo di finanziamento. Il Centro Hausdorff è l'unico centro di eccellenza nel campo della matematica in Germania.
Il centro deve il suo nome al matematico Felix Hausdorff (1868-1942).
Organizzazione
Il coordinatore dell'HCM è Karl-Theodor Sturm (en) . In totale, circa 70 professori di Bonn sono affiliati all'HCM: tutti professori di matematica, MPI ed economia teorica. Questi includono il direttore dell'MPI Gerd Faltings , che ha ricevuto la medaglia Fields nel 1986 e Peter Scholze , che ha ricevuto la medaglia Fields nel 2018.
L'Hausdorff Research Institute for Mathematics (HIM), la Bonn International Graduate School in Mathematics (BIGS) e la Hausdorff School for Advanced Studies in Mathematics fanno parte del Centro Hausdorff:
- L' Istituto di ricerca Hausdorff per la matematica (HIM) organizza programmi internazionali a lungo termine e promuove la cooperazione tra matematici tedeschi e scienziati di fama internazionale in matematica ed economia matematica. - La Bonn International Graduate School in Mathematics (BIGS) sostiene lo sviluppo scientifico degli studenti di dottorato. Il regista di BIGS è Barbara Niethammer .
- La Hausdorff School for Advanced Studies in Mathematics è un programma di formazione per ricercatori post-dottorato con sede in Germania e in tutto il mondo. Promuove la qualificazione sistematica dei giovani scienziati. Il regista è Patrik Ferrari (da) .
