uso
Grazie alla sua elevata entalpia di fusione , l'ottadecano viene utilizzato come materiale a cambiamento di fase , con applicazioni in particolare nell'isolamento termico degli edifici. Per questo, molti studi cercano di incapsularlo con metodi diversi.
