Michael Hegstrand
Michael James Hegstrand (nato il26 gennaio 1957a Chicago e morì il19 ottobre 2003a Indian Rocks Beach ) è un wrestler americano. È meglio conosciuto come l'anello Road Warrior Hawk o semplicemente Hawk e fa parte della squadra Road Warriors / Legion of Doom insieme a Road Warrior Animal .
Gioventù
Michael James Hegstrand è cresciuto a Saint Paul, Minnesota. A 15 anni ha incontrato Joe Laurinaitis e ha fatto sollevamento pesi insieme. Dopo il liceo, entrambi sono diventati buttafuori al nightclub Grandma B di Saint Paul e hanno lavorato con Barry Darsow e Richard Rood .
Carriera di wrestling
Formazione e debutto (1983)
Mentre lavorava come buttafuori presso Grandma B , Road Warrior Hawk ha incontrato Eddie Sharkey (in) , un ex wrestler che lavora come barista in discoteca. Si offre di allenare Hegstrand, Laurinaitis, Darsow e Rood. Dopo alcuni mesi di allenamento, Hegstrand si trasferì a Vancouver per lottare nella All Star Wrestling con il nome di Crusher Haig .
Formazione dei Road Warriors nella Georgia Championship Wrestling (1983-1984)
Poco dopo il suo debutto, Ole Anderson , comproprietario e booker della Georgia Championship Wrestling, offre a Joe Laurinaitis e Michael Hegstrand di entrare nella sua federazione.. Arrivano e diventano i Road Warriors , Laurinaitis prende il nome Road Warrior Animal/Animal mentre Hegstrand si fa chiamare Road Warrior Hawk/Hawk . La loro trovata si ispira all'universo post-apocalittico di Mad Max . Essi Paul Ellering come manager all'interno del clan Legion of Doom membri includono King Kong Bundy , Jake Roberts e The Spoiler (in) . Hanno preso rapidamente il centro della scena e sono stati presentati con il National Wrestling Alliance Nazionali Champions team Cinture Championship Wrestling Georgia versione su10 giugno. King Kong Bundy lasciò la federazione poche settimane dopo e la Georgia Championship Wrestling decise di organizzare un torneo per nominare i nuovi campioni. I Road Warriors vincono questo torneo e il titolo20 maggiodopo la loro vittoria in finale contro Junkyard Dog e Sweet Brown Sugar . Ron Garvin e Jerry Oates li hanno sconfitti4 luglio per diventare campione.
